The burn card is set aside face-down and is not revealed during or after normal play. Our round logs record the position it occupied in the shuffled deck, but that detail is only accessed if a formal dispute is raised with support.

No. Removing the burn card before the deal does not change the distribution. You still receive twelve cards as a non-dealer, and the dealer still takes thirteen. The burn card simply reduces the draw pile by one.

In the standard Filipino Tongits format we follow, the dealer receives the extra card because they handled the shuffle and deal. That thirteenth card offsets the slight positional advantage and is part of the original rule structure.
